The chairman of the technical committee to midwife the transition of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta to Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology, Prof. Peter Okebukola, has said lecturers in MAPOLY who possess the requisite qualifications to teach in a university have the opportunity to apply for jobs in MAUSTECH.
He said this on Friday against the backdrop of a protest by the lecturers of MAPOLY last Wednesday who had alleged that Okebukola had given a directive that they must resigned their employment with the institution and reapply.
They had also alleged that the committee set up by the Ogun State Government, had equally ordered the sacking of over 250 lecturers of the institution.
But the former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission however, denied these claims, describing them as ‘fake news.’
Restating this position on Friday in his office, Okebukola said it was not in the mandate of the committee which he headed, to sack any member of staff of MAPOLY.
He said rather, MAPOLY would give birth to two institutions -MAUSTECH and the Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia – and more employment opportunities would be created.
